How Many Pizzas Should You Order Per Person?

Ordering for a crowd and not sure how much to get? Here is a dead-simple way to figure out how many pizzas you actually need.

Ordering pizza for a group always raises the same question: how much is enough without drowning in leftovers? There is a simple way to get it right almost every time.

The two-slice rule

Plan on about two slices per adult. Our large pies are an 18-inch, cut into 8 generous slices, so each one feeds roughly four people. A quick formula: multiply the number of guests by two, then divide by eight, and round up. For 20 adults, that is 40 slices, or about 5 pizzas.

  1. Count your guests
  2. Multiply by 2 slices each
  3. Divide by 8 slices per 18-inch pizza
  4. Round up — leftovers are better than running short

Adjust for your crowd

  • Mostly kids: figure about one slice each
  • Big appetites or no other food: bump to three slices each
  • Lots of sides, salads, or appetizers: scale the pizza down a bit
  • A mix of pies: order a couple of crowd-pleasers (cheese, pepperoni) plus a specialty or two

When in doubt, ask

For bigger events, catering takes the math off your plate entirely — tell us your headcount and we will help you size the order so everyone eats well.

Common Questions

About 5 of our 18-inch pizzas. Using the two-slice rule: 20 guests × 2 slices = 40 slices, divided by 8 slices per pie, rounded up to 5.

Our 18-inch large pies are cut into 8 generous slices, which is the basis for the two-slice-per-person rule — about four people per pie.

Kids generally eat less — plan on about one slice each rather than two, especially if there are other snacks or sides.
